If you’re a Dark Lord, don’t just be menacing. It gets old fast. Lighten things up occasionally. That is what is truly menacing. Imagine seeing a tray of these in a counsel meeting. If your minions seem to be enjoying themselves, offer some ice cold milk. Then when they have their guard down; slowly choke them with invisible force.

Here’s the deal: Obadiah Stane is cold and calculating spending years covertly taking over Stark Industries and when his plot to have the succesor killed fails; tries it himself. But he falls victim to the classic “go stark (pun) raving mad with your bigger better ironman suit in the end”. That and he fully pops his collar.

Again a key to successful overlordship is finding the right real-estate to centralize operations for your plan for world domination. (Yes international offices often add prestige and are needed, but let’s try to focus here.) Craigslist can help, but beware of scams. There is nothing more humiliating and unproductive then getting into a bad real-estate deal. Remember while ecology is generally not the Overlords first concern, it can play a factor in overall costs and investment value. So be certain to complete your due diligence. 1) Symbolism is suggestive and powerful. Hire a good graphics person. The double-headed snake thing has been kick ass for me.

2) Necromancing comes in handy as an overlord. Yes, though not for everyone, changing into a serpent tends to impress even the strongest of heathen barbarians.

3) Finding followers who will walk off a cliff in blind faith demonstrates an overlords powers of persuasion. It takes awhile to do this though. Don’t be impatient, stick with it. In the end they will drink the kool-aid.
