I’ve Floated This Idea Before
But I’ll do it again, because the first time I did it my Internet friendships weren’t as deep. And I’m bored on a Saturday morning.
From what I can tell, everyone here seems to be a bunch of creative supergeniuses. Writers, artists, art directors, graphic/Web/interactive designers, business-minded folks, account managers, would-be media moguls, thinkers, doers, dreamers, disruptors (my term of choice over the more cliched “innovators”).
People unlike us will pay for stuff like that. The community we’ve formed is what great companies are made of. So why have we not yet formed some Super Agency?
We have “offices” all over the country, we have communication links that are better than most business networks, we’re all perfectionists who strive daily to make others think or create or inspire or laugh.
We are on the cutting edge of everything: the latest trends, technologies, current events.
We are young.
We are international.
We are fast.
And don’t take this next part the wrong way, because it isn’t the case with everyone: I’d suggest that many of our friendships, while strong, still lack a component of knowing a person on a deeper, “true friendship” level. And you don’t necessarily want a work environment where everyone is BFFs. You need to be able to be constructive and hire and fire and critique without hurting personal ties.
Anyway, sit on these thoughts as you wander throughout your weekend.
